Session 2019-20

As a part of its Value Education and Social Outreach programme, in the year 2014, the school took on the responsibility to provide monthly Nutritional Support for critically ill patients (PLHAs – Persons Living with HIV/AIDS) at the HIV / AIDS project run by the Lott Carey Baptist Mission in India.

The Mission runs an HIV/AIDS Awareness programme in slum areas of East and West Delhi and 30 PLHA families from destitute backgrounds are directly supported with medical aid and basic rations.

I extend my gratitude and thanks for the commitment and enthusiasm with which the entire Somerville family, students, parents and staff, have embraced this venture. I am sure you have experienced in many ways throughout the year, the wonderful effects of the prayers and blessings of the people who benefitted from your generosity.

Somerville School, Vasundhara Enclave will continue its commitment to provide a part of the basic monthly ration for these 30 families in the academic session 2019-20.

i) The schedule for collection and dispensation of ration is as follows:

April Class XII
May Class X
June Class IX
July Class VIII
August Class XI
September Class I
October Class III
November Class VII
December Class VI
January Class V

ii) Participation is purely voluntary.

The children of each section of the allotted class will be divided into six groups (6-7 students per group). Each group will collect the ration for one PLHA family sharing the expenses between them or providing in kind. Collection of the ration will begin in the third week of every month. For the months of June, the ration will be collected in May before the school closes for Summer vacation.

The basic ration we need to provide each month for one family is as follows:

1) Atta 10 Kg
2) Cooking Oil (Soyabean) 2 Kg
3) Sugar 2 Kg

5) Dhalia 2 Kg
6) Parle glucose (large packet) (Teachers)

The ration will be distributed directly to the targeted families by selected students from each section in the last week of every month.

We seek your support and cooperation in this endeavour to put into practice the values of love and sharing that form the bedrock on which our school stands.
