SESSION 2024-25

SWACHHATA PAKHWADA – 2024

As part of the SwachhataPakhwada initiative by the Government of India, our school organized various activities from 1st to 15th September 2024, with special focus on the importance of handwashing.All washrooms are equipped with supplies like disinfectants,soap, hand-wash, safe water etc.along with adequate cleaning staff.

  • A SwachhataShapath was administered, in which all students, teachers, non-teaching and support staff participated. Swachhata awareness messages were posted on the school website. The parents were also informed of the observance of the SwachhataPakhwadathrough e-mail and were encouraged to take the SwachhataPledge
  • Assemblies were conducted to create awareness on the need for proper handwashing in daily life.The dangers posed to our health by water-borne and vector-borne diseases were discussed and students were encouraged to take preventive measures and maintain hygiene and sanitation.
  • The WHO- mandatedprocedure of hand washing with soap and water was demonstrated by Eco ambassadors in Primary and Senior classes.
  • Postersweremade bystudentsofClasses I and II on the theme ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’.
  • The students of classes III and IV made slogans/posters on prevention of diarrhoea and use of ORS.
  • Primary school students weremade aware of how they could maintain good personal hygiene. They were informed about the importance of brushing teeth, cutting nails, bathing with clean water and also wearing clean clothes.

SWACHHATA HI SEWA CAMPAIGN – 2024

The annual Swachhata Hi Sewa (SHS) fortnight,on the theme “SwabhavSwachhata – SanskaarSwachhatawas organized by the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti and Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs from 24th September 2024 to 2nd October 2024.

The following activities were organized by the school:

  • Swachhata Shapath was taken by students of all classes of the school.
  • Plantation driveswere conducted on the lines of ‘EkPedMaakeNaam.’
  • Swachhata Quiz on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was organized for classes VI to XII.
  • A human chain was formed by students of Class VI, as they recited slogans on the importance of maintaining cleanliness around us.
  • A Cleanliness Awareness rally was organized by Eco Club students in the Vasundhara Enclave market area to create awareness on cleanliness in public spaces.
  • Swachhataclasses/drives were conducted to create awareness andencourage students to keep their classrooms and canteen area clean.
  • A short skit,based on the theme of ‘Swachhata’ was conducted by the students of Class-IX toencourage the students to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.
    The purpose of the campaign was to mobilize widespread citizen action and ownership for swachhata.

The German Spell Bee Competition

Goethe Institute organized Deutschland-ABC, The German Spell Bee Competition, at Amity International School, PushpVihar, on 1stOctober2024. The event saw participation of students from Classes VII to IX from over 40 schools.Shriyansh Singh of Class VIII and Saanvi Gandhi of Class VII represented the school in the event. The Special Guests at the programme were Ms. Puneet Kaur, Head of Educational Cooperation at Goethe Institute, Mr. Matthias Dünnwald, Ms. Mohita Miglani, Ms. JagritiBudhirajaand Ms. Shilpa Sharma, the Project Managers for Educational Cooperation.

This was a classicSpelling Competition in which the participants were required to spell German words across various levels of difficulty. Each round focused on a specific sub-topic related to the overarching theme “Dreamland Deutschland”. The different topicsthat were includedin the competition were food, geography, education, history and language. Shriyansh Singh qualified for the second round, which consisted of three preliminary rounds followed by the final round. The event wasa great learningexperience for the students. It provided the students, the opportunity to discover new vocabulary and gain exposure that is inextricably linked to the language and culture. The participants’efforts were appreciated and they receivedcertificatesand gifts from the Goethe Institute

The Goethe Institute also organized an Info-Session on 1st October 2024 on “Higher Studies in Germany” at Amity International School, Pushp Vihar. The session was conducted by Ms. Jagriti Budhiraja, Project Manager Educational Cooperation at the Goethe Institute.

Five students fromClass VIII of our school attended the programme.The session was both informative and interactive.Students received guidance on the opportunities for higher studiesin Germany and other German-speakingcountries, and the advantages of studying German language in school. Ms. Budhiraja also shared her personaljourney of learning German language in India, pursuing herMasters degreein Germany and working there, along with insights into the German lifestyle and the opportunities she found upon returning to India.Overall, it was a great learning experience for students

A quiz based on information about Germany was conducted and students participatedactively, with rewards given to those who answered correctly. Mihika Rani Chandan of Clas VIII-E was particularly active in the quiz and received a token of appreciation.

Awareness Workshops by Modicare Foundation

Modicare Foundation conducted training programmesin the school for Classes VII and VIII from 24th to 26thSeptember 2024 over extended periods of six hours on all three days. The topics addressed in the session were, growing up issues, peer pressure andbullying, gender sensitisation and internet safety. The team members conducted detailed sessions with the students, discussing gender roles and stereotypes,bullying and a wide range of potential online threats.Students interacted very well with the resource persons.Overall the programme was very productive in imparting knowledge to students. The training programme concluded with question and answers sessions where students’ queries were addressed. The session was very informative and enriching.

GERMAN WORKSHOP

The Goethe Institute organised a “Go-to-Goethe Workshop” onFriday, 23rdAugust 2024. The topic of the workshop was “Deutschland- A Journey through Germany”, which aimed at familiarizing students with popular German states.Five students from Classes VI and VII participated in the workshop. Mr.Matthias Dünnwald was the resource person.

The workshop began with engagingactivities such as“Know Yourself” and writinga word associatedwith Germany. The students had the chance to travel virtually through variousGerman states, including Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Köln, Frankfurt, Freiburg and München.Students were divided into groups of eight to participate in an activity where they linked pictures to the states they had learned about. The students participated enthusiastically, applying their German language skills and promotingteamwork.Theyalso had the opportunity to unlock their creative potential by creating and briefly explaining poster on German states.

The Goethe Institute provided refreshmentsand badges to the students. Overall, it was a great learning experience for the students.

WORKSHOP- SCULPTURE MAKINGANDCLAY MODELLING

The school organiseda Sculpture making and Clay modelling workshop on 20 July 2024. Around 40 students from Classes VIII to XII participated in the workshop. The resource person, Mr. MukeshHaldar,introduced thestudents to different types of clay and sculpting tools. Students learned the art of using these materials and properly handling the tools.MrHaldar demonstrated the steps involved in making a portrait sculpture.

Students were encouraged to create their own sculptures based on themes such as nature, animals, and abstract forms.Some students worked in groups to create larger sculptures, fostering teamwork and collaboration. This session focused on enhancing motor skills, and providing an outlet for creative self-expression.

CBP WORKSHOP ON STORY TELLING

The CBSE workshop on ‘Story Telling’ was conducted by Ms. Akansha Arora and Ms. Mukta Mishra on 22nd May 2024 for the primary teachers

The resource persons began the session with a discussion on common emotional and behavioural problems in children such as attention deficit, hyperactivity disorder, anxiety problems etc. and how to address them in a classroom situation such as using mindful and relaxation techniques, screening, promoting self-expression etc. Furthermore, they emphasized the need to use story telling as a pedagogy where it can be used to pass on knowledge, promote culture, enhance vocabulary, imagination, communication skills, develop confidence, interest for language and stories etc. in children. Different types of storytelling techniques and elements of storytelling were shared and explained by the resource persons. Number of activities were conducted in groups which made the session more informative as well as entertaining.

CBP WORKSHOP ON ACTIVE LEARNING

The CBSE workshop on ‘Active Learning Approach’ was conducted for Primary teachers on May 20th, 2024, by Dr.Veena Mishra and Mr. R.K. Srivastava. The guest speakers highlighted the need to bring a change in the teaching–learning method by adopting the ‘Active Learning Approach’ in the classroom. This educational approach emphasizes the learner’s active engagement, participation and involvement in the learning process. They further explained the importance of this approach, as it fosters deeper understanding and critical thinking and enhances social interaction and engagement among students

The teachers were divided into groups and engaged in different hands-on activities to understand the approach better. The resource persons addressed all the queries of the teachers positively. It was an informative and interactive session.

Universities in USA

The school organised a workshop for students of classes XI & XII on 16th July 2024 on the topic – Universities USA.

Mr. Anshul Kochhar the Admission Advisor at Kent State University, Ms. Sunayana Chhabra, Destination Manager, IDP, and Ms. Dilpreet Kaur Walia, Branch Manager, IDP were the resource persons

Cyber Bullying Workshop

The school organised a Cyber Bullying Workshop for students of Class IX on 6 th May 2024 in the school auditorium. The resource person, Mr. Praveen Khanna is an MS in Psychotherapy, a Certified Business Communication Specialist and a certified Training & Development Manager.

Mr. Khanna explained how teenagers are vulnerable to cyberbullying. He clarified that cyber bullying is when someone uses technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. He also talked about signs of cyberbullying. He apprised the students about the legal age of getting registered on different social media cites and the repercussions of having an account before attaining the legal age. He also conveyed that students should be cautious of the language used and refrain from using inappropriate language on social media. He educated the students regarding proper and appropriate use of Internet and different social media platforms and sites.

The session was very informative and enriching. It provided an opportunity for the students to gain insight into the complexities of cyberbullying.

BUILDING RESILIENCE FOR A SMOOTH CAREER

The school organised a workshop on 6 th May 2024, for students of Class XI on the topic ‘Building Resilience for a Smooth Career’. The resource person, Mr. Praveen Khanna is an MS in Psychotherapy, a Certified Business Communication Specialist and a certified Training & Development Manager.

Mr. Khanna talked about the importance of being resilient and how precisely students make right career choices. He also emphasised that contemporary students should consider jobs that will be in demand ten years from now. He threw light upon the importance of acquiring sound technical skills, networking, social work, joining clubs etc. These will help them to sustain and offer resistance when faced with challenging situations on the job front.

Mr. Khanna mentioned some of the very demanding careers in future like Quantum Computing Specialist, Personal Health Coach, Blockchain Developer, Drone Traffic Controller, Chief Experience Officer etc.

The session was very informative and enlightening and directed students to consider unconventional career options, pursuing which may boost engagement at work and improve job satisfaction.

English Week - Grammar Games Workshop

As part of English Week, HT Pace organised a Grammar Games Workshop on 7 th May 2024. Mrs. Nalini James, HT Pace Resource Person conducted two separate workshops for the students of Classes IV and V. She had an interactive session with the students wherein she reinforced grammar rules, introduced them to new words and terms and guided them on how to improve their spoken and written English. The students enjoyed the workshop and interacted with excitement with the resource person. It was an interesting learning experience for them.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

The school conducted a workshop on Waste Management on 4th May 2024, in collaboration with the Hindustan Times. Around 90 students from Classes VII and VIII participated in the workshop. The resource person, Ms. Dolly Aggarwal engaged the students in a fruitful session of learning by doing.

The session focused on making students aware of the importance of reusing waste material to create useful items. Using bottle caps, old newspapers, old electrical wires and boxes of various shapes and sizes, students created interesting decorative items, toys and planters. The workshop helped the students to come up with innovative ideas and enhance their creativity along with learning to care for the environment.

Workshop on CUET

The School organised a CUET (Common University Entrance Test) Awareness workshop for students of Classes XI & XII on 24th April 2024. The resource person, Mr. Siddharth Singhal from is the Chief Consultant-CUET Modules Development Team at IMS.

During the session, Mr.Singhal explained that CUET is an all-India level qualifying test for admission to various undergraduate programmes in Central Universities. He briefed the students about the syllabus, courses offered, universities, instructions for filling the forms and selection of the subjects. The students were apprised of the various career options. Important links were shared with the students to give them additional information pertaining to the test.

He discussed the following in detail:

  • What is CUET and its purpose?
  • Eligibility/ selection criteria and test structure
  • Sample questions, tested in the current year’s CUET (Language and General test)
  • Importance of Class 12 syllabus in CUET
  • Other important exams like IPM & CLAT
  • Basic Preparation Plan

The workshop concluded with a question and answers session where students’ queries were addressed. The session was very informative and enriching for the students, providing them specific and relevant knowledge of the under-graduation admission procedures.

 
 

Educational Trip

An educational trip to Nehru Planetarium, Delhi, was organized by the Science Department on 23 rd April 2024, for the students of Class IX, to watch a 2D show in the dome theme: Biography of Universe. A total of 176 students and 10 teachers attended the show.

The 2D show began with a satellite view of the Nehru Planetarium region and then a spectacular view into the night sky, including stars, planets and constellations. This was followed by the main show, Biography of the Universe. It was an amazing journey showcasing the story of the universe through time, starting with the Big Bang, formation of stars and galaxies and formation of the solar system. Our galaxy, the Milky Way, was also explained in detail. It concluded with the story of the birth of Earth and the first life on Earth. The show ignited students’ interest as they considered themselves as future space scientists who would further explore and unravel the mystery of the universe.

The students marvelled at the unimaginable numbers and facts revealed during the show. They enjoyed the show thoroughly and returned to school after spending some fun time in the park inside the planetarium premises.

Profile Building, SAT & Study Abroad workshop

The School organized a Profile Building, SAT & Study Abroad workshop for students of Classes XI & XII on 12th April 2024. The resource person, Mr.Rajan Bhatia, heads the counselling and admissions division of Jamboree Education.

During the session Mr. Bhatia explained the process of application and admission criteria for Indian universities, Ivy League universities, and other leading universities of the world.

He also shared very shared relevant information on:

  • Profile building & enhancement
  • Details about SAT, ACT, AP, IELTS & TOEFL exams
  • Road map for students of 9-12 standard
  • Scholarship, Assistance & Financial Aid
  • Success stories of students studying & working abroad

The session was very informative and enlightening for the students, providing them comprehensive knowledge and guidance regarding accessing opportunities for higher education in India and abroad.

 
 

Prerana – Report

The school organised 'PRERANA UTSAV' on 8th of April, 2024. The objective of the Prerana programme is to promote a sense of pride in the great unity in diversity of the nation and a spirit of “ Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”. The students of Classes IX-XII took part in the Utsav.

The Utsav was held under the supervision of teachers, where the registered students participated in various literary and creative events. The students exhibited their talent in multi-model activities of their choice such as writing essay, story, poem, song, making drawing or caricature on the themes, ‘My Vision for India’, ‘My contribution towards Society and Nation’ and ‘ Vikasit Bharat’. The best entries were shortlisted for the next level of the event.

 
 

SESSION 2023-24

Career Counselling Workshop Report

A Career Counselling session was organised for the students of Class X on 16th January 2024 in the school hall. The workshop was conducted by Mrs. Jyotsna Bharadwaj who is the founder of Envision India Eduservices. Ms. Bharadwaj is a master trainer with CBSE and a member of AISCAP ‘Association of Indian School Counselors and Allied Professionals.’

Mrs. Jyotsna informed the students about different career options suitable for all three streams and new age careers that provide ample opportunities to grow. She gave a detailed explanation about the career options that hold a lot of scope, both in India and abroad. She also advised students to keep their interest and aptitude in mind when choosing a career as it would ensure success in the future.

The resource person addressed all the queries of the students satisfactorily. The session was immensely fruitful and beneficial for the participants.

 
 

Workshop on Improving Speaking Skills in German ( Report)

A workshop on Improving Speaking Skills in German was conducted on 19th December 2023 by Mr. Palash Bhattachariya, an alumnus of our school, who is currently pursuing M.Sc. in Computational Mathematics from University of Passau, Bavaria, Germany. The aim of the workshop was to help students develop fluency in spoken German to maximise the benefits of educational opportunities in Germany. The session was attended by students of Classes V, VI and VII, who are learning German as an additional subject.

During the session Mr. Palash Bhattachariya talked about various aspects of a student’s life in Germany. He also discussed the culture of South Germany including popular cuisine and festivals. Students enthusiastically participated in the event making the session interactive. A quiz at the end of the session provided the students an opportunity to test their knowledge.

Students were motivated to embrace German language in their daily life. Mr Palash Bhattachariya expressed his pleasure on visiting his alma mater and sharing his experiences with the students.

 
 

Workshop & Training Session-CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

The District Disaster Management Authority (East), in collaboration with Heart Care Foundation of India (a non- profit organisation), conducted a Training cum Sensitisation Programme on Life Saving Technique- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) on 17th October 2023 for the students of Class X. The resource person, Mr Sanjeev Kumar, talked about the importance of knowing how to perform CPR to save lives in emergency situations. He also demonstrated the correct technique of checking for pulse rate and the basic steps for performing CPR. The training gave the students hands-on practise of the CPR technique. The students were required to give an online test after the training to receive an e-certificate.

‘KREATIV KӦPFE’/ ‘CREATIVE MINDS’

Goethe Institut, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi organises weekly workshops to lure the creativity of young learners. On 24th August 2023, ten students of Class VII participated in the workshop, ‘JUNIORUNI- Experience Science Creatively’. Students explored the existence of dinosaurs in a creative and playful manner as part of an international project called ‘JUNIORUNI’-a digital platform offering free access to various scientific concepts, available both in English and German.

Several schools participated in the workshop. Students were divided into four groups and encouraged to participate in many interesting activities. They watched an informative video about animals and later, attempted a worksheet that tested their knowledge about physical features of different animals.

The workshop was a perfect opportunity for the students to interact with their counterparts, enhance their vocabulary and showcase their creativity.

Essential Medical Training Workshop Report

The school organised Essential Medical Training Workshop for teachers on 26th August 2023 in the school auditorium. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Neeraj Sharma, CEO, Siddhant Singh Cardiac Awareness Foundation, along with Ms. Shracha Agarwal, the Program Director.

The main aim of the workshop was to prepare teachers for emergencies and equipping them with the necessary skills to respond to a critical situation effectively and save a life at risk.

The session focused on recognising a medical emergency and learning to differentiate between a heart attack and cardiac arrest. The resource person. Ms. Shracha Agarwal, demonstrated the correct technique to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on infants, young children and adults. The participants also learnt about Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a portable device that can be used to analyse the heart’s rhythm and deliver an electrical shock, if required.

The workshop gave the participants an opportunity to learn through hands-on experience and be prepared to handle a life-threatening situation.

Cyber Awareness WORKSHOP

A workshop regarding Cyber Awareness was organised for the students of Class IX on July 5, 2023, in the school auditorium. The speaker, Sub Inspector, Mr. Naresh Kumar, Cyber Cell East Delhi, addressed the students and informed them about malicious methods used by cybercriminals to trap people. He also educated the students about how they can be easy targets. He spoke about ways to spot potential threats and what students can do to avoid falling victim to such threats. The session was interactive. Students were encouraged to put forth their queries that were satisfactorily answered by Mr. Kumar.

CLAY MODELLING WORKSHOP

A clay modelling workshop was organised by HT Pace on 16th May 2023 in all the sections of Class IV. The resource person, Mrs. Dolly Aggarwal, a certified professional with Fevicryl Pidilite conducted the workshop. The students really enjoyed the creative workshop and made animals using clay.

MASK MAKING WORKSHOP

A mask making workshop was organised by HT Pace on 10th May 2023 in all the sections of Class V. The resource person, Mrs. Dolly Aggarwal, a certified professional with Fevicry Pidilite, conducted the workshop. The students really enjoyed the workshop and made attractive masks by following instructions and applying their creativity and imagination.

PROMOTING SELF ADVOCACY- INCLUSION TO INDEPENDENCE

A workshop on ‘Promoting Self Advocacy- Inclusion to Independence’ was organized for primary school teachers on 26th May, 2023. The resource person for the workshop was Ms. Preeti Monga (Founder and CEO of Silver Linings Trust and Silver Linings services). She shared her journey of how she has become so independent and successful inspite of being visually impaired for around 50 years. She motivated and inspired teachers on how challenges can be defeated by having courage and positivity. She highlighted several points during the workshop that are mentioned below:

  • How journey of inclusion to independence is possible in school.
  • Strategies to promote self-advocacy skills among students.
  • Sensitization of general teachers on importance of having self – advocacy skills among children with disabilities.

WORKSHOP ON GENDER SENSITIVITY- CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME (CBSE)

The CBSE Capacity Building Workshop on ‘Gender Sensitivity’ was held on 23rd May 2023. The Resource Persons were Ms. Subha Chandrashekhar and Mr.Pankaj Munjal. It was attended by 49 teachers of the school. The resource persons emphasized on the need to know oneself and conducted activities in which each teacher developed an insight of herself/himself. They talked about the importance of gender sensitization in these changing times and how to create a society where individuals are aware of gender issues and actively work towards gender equality. Number of activities were conducted in groups which made the workshop informative as well as entertaining.

WORKSHOP ON HOW TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH PARENTS

A workshop on ‘How to communicate effectively with parents’ was conducted on 25th May 2023 by Ms. Nazia Ahmed, a certified parenting coach from DEEP (Developmental, Encouraging & Effective Parenting).

Ms. Ahmed highlighted how parenting has become more difficult as compared to the earlier times and emphasized on the need for constant communication between parents and children and constant encouragement and guidance by the parents. She also addressed the queries that the teachers had with respect to the problems faced while dealing with parents and gave useful tips on how to handle difficult situations. It was an informative and useful workshop for teachers.

WORKSHOP ON HEALTH AND FITNESS FOR TEACHERS

A workshop on ‘Health and Fitness for Teachers’ was conducted by Ms. Sonia Bakshi, a physical wellness trainer, on 24th May 2023.

The resource person emphasized on the importance of self-care and fitness based on the kind of work and tasks performed by teachers. She demonstrated a lot of exercises that can be incorporated in daily routines for a healthy lifestyle. She also addressed all the queries that the teachers had with respect to individual health issues and diet. The workshop was very informative and engaging.

CRAFT WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS

A craft workshop was organised by HT Pace on 27th May 2023 for teachers. The resource person, Mrs. Dolly Aggarwal, a certified professional with Fevicryl Pidilite conducted the workshop. She demonstrated a number of craft activities which can be done in the classroom with students. The teachers enjoyed the workshop and learnt to create teaching aids using paper and waste material.
